Hello World!

This is my first official post to my brand new blog. I have wanted to start a blog for quite some time but it always seemed overwhelming and a little scary when I thought about it too much. As a perfectionist, I knew if I made a blog it would have to be perfect and since we all know there is no such thing as perfect, this was a daunting task. I’m happy to say I have gotten better at just doing things I want to do. The first step is always the hardest but after you take those first steps it gets easier. With that being said, my name is Bree. I am a dreamer, a fur mom, and a lover of all things creative. Keepsake August first started as a solo project for my music (and it is still) when I was 16. I was grounded for something that had to do with a boy and I was so bored one day I picked up my dad’s fender zipped up in the corner of our living room and I just started putting melodies together and the music flowed out of me as if  I were always meant to do it. My love for music began much before this. Luckily for me, my dad had and still has an incredible taste in music. Growing up he would play it loud with the windows down in the car, he’d play it loud through the whole house when everyone was home on the weekends and I always felt most alive when that music was playing. Since day one, I was a shy kid. I was in my own head a lot, even at a very early age. I was a wallflower. I observed everything and said almost nothing. Middle school was a nightmare for me, I stressed about everything and I didn’t understand why I couldn’t make friends or relate to my peers very well. High school wasn’t much different. My best friends were the bands I listened to and the music I grew up listening to. When I was a junior, I met a special guy named Sean. He was the opposite of me. He was personable, funny, popular, everyone knew him and everyone liked him. I look back now and wonder why he liked me back then but I’m glad he did because he would be the one to pull me out of my shell. Eight years later I am proud to say I have learned to overcome social anxiety and I am happily engaged to that special guy. Aubrey (my fur baby) has been with me since I was 13 years old as a birthday present that has brought me more happiness than any other gift. Aubrey now lives with me and Sean in our first apartment which we are absolutely loving. In a lot of ways, this is the beginning of my life. I am becoming more and more proud of the person I am becoming and I finally feel comfortable sharing that with the world and deep down, I know I was always meant to do that.
